Self Care

For my first post ever I really wanted to post something essential to me. In this case, self-care. Every Sunday I take about an hour to plan out my week. I do it for two reasons. It's a chance to sit and take a look at the week ahead and it's therapeutic.
I put my phone on silent, lock the door to my room and forget the world exists. I've been learning a lot about self care and its positive impact on people. Especially people who have suffered form depression and anxiety like me. It's important to find tiny moments in time and simply focus on yourself. You can do this while doing ANYTHING you want!
I like to sit and plan my week while listening to classical music and it gives me a chance to take a look at the coming week. What needs to get done for school, what activities do I want to engage in during the week; books to read, going out, family time and gatherings, etcetera.
It's a chance for reflection. I take a look at the new week but I also look back at the week that just passed. What happed that was good? What were some new experiences? What things did I do wrong and how can I correct them in the future? This is a new chance to leave behind anything bad and negative and it's the opportunity to start new as a bigger and better person.
We don't have a definitive moment in life for anything. Any moment is good to start on a diet, just like any moment is as good as any to change for the better. Keep this in mind when when you are feeling overwhelmed and mentally drained and exhausted. Sit down, relax, reflect. Whether it's planning, reading, writing or playing Fortnight like my brother, take one hour for yourself to think and feel. Nothing is better than your self worth, and nothing is more precious than your mental health.
"Woman have to take the time to focus on our mental health; take time for self, for the spiritual, without feeling guilty or selfish. The world will see you the way you see you, and treat you the way you treat yourself."
-Beyonce.
